ADSL line drops speed every two days 10mb line

ADSL line drops speed every two days and I have to phone the help desk and they reset the port only for the speed so slow down again. Before I had a week then ti was two days between and now its full time 91 kbps (11.4 KB/sec transfer rate) but yet your bills keep charging me as if I am receiving the service I am paying for.

Hi @kevin_rack,

 

Sorry to hear what you’ve been  going through;  that connection's so bad you can’t even access other Telkom support options !

 

… if you haven’t already done so,  ask 10210 tech dept. to log a fault ref , and they can also check if exchange congestion might be exacerbating the problems.

 

10210 also helped me reconnect repeatedly with port & router resets,  but I also found the issues kept recurring until I emailed a logged fault ref number with details to support@telkom.co.za  -  Worth a try .

Thanks for the reply but I have had technicians out, I have emailed the support address many times with no reply, I even have to phone in daily to get my ports reset but that is not an option if you know how busy the help desk lines can be. The help desk guys are awesome but if I am paying for 10mbs and I only get 110 kbps. 
I hope to take this to court as Telkom 
are knowingly charginging me for a service I do not receive. Not only this but I was sold the 10mbs line which I am now only told can never ever reach 10mbs but maybe only ever 8mbs if i am lucky. This is false advertising.

Yea, I really do understand re the help desk - I also spent hours with 10210 . I hoped you might not have tried the other support options yet .

Just boggles the mind that Telkom techs confirmed your issues then closed the fault and keep billing you.

 

I was very lucky - survived the frustration ( just) as I work from home and used an old mobile USB data contract for backup internet connection until the issues were sorted. I ‘d already migrated from ADSL to a fibre installation on a new 24 mth 10 mbps package with Telkom hardware.

But my fibre speed & stability have been brilliant for 3 mnths now , plus Telkom credited my bill for the downtime after the issues were sorted .

Do hope you get help soon from every which way possible.

I understand your frustration.
Been through this for months. Paying for a 10 Mbps line and getting 4Mbps tops - which is very seldom. Called Telkom several times and its always a BS story. Had techs onsite when lucky but get told its ailing infrastructure. Most times the calls are resolved and I get informed via sms but the problem still exists. Since November, I called 6 or 7 times. Still the same problem. I called again earlier this evening and after a 20 min online troubleshoot the problem still exists. Poured myself a stiff drink instead. 😁
