Horray! OpenServe technician arrived on 25/2/18 and had a look at broken cable and the tree and said that he could not do anything until tree is cut. He promised to report to his Manager. Then he left. Hope he comes back some time soon. Trees are in 2x neighbours properties as pole is in the corner of yard. Neighbours are not interested.

As of today 12th March 2018, there is still no action from our beloved Telkom. Still NO voice or adsl line. I was advised today by 10210 to try get a stand alone wireless phone but he knew nothing more about it. 10213 was a bit more helpful - they knew how it worked but didn't know the pricing. Its a home phone with a sim card and a built in WiFi modem. Called a Telkom Direct Store and they told me it is R 629 for a similar package to what I am currently subscribed to - Smarthome Advanced - free 24hrs Telkom landline calls and 40gb soft cap adsl. Too pricey for me and I would need a range extender for WiFi. May be an option for some folk who don't want a fixed cable line.

Horray! OpenServe technicians arrived on 15 March and laid a new cable. They re-routed it cos neighbour wouldn't cut his trees. Upon repairing the cable the line was still dead. They said that there was an underground cable fault elsewhere that Telkom has to repair. So now I'm waiting for that.

Great news!!! Got home from work today and my wife tells me that OpenServe Specialised Technician had come around and managed to sort out the fault. We've now got adsl and Landline. Got about 400Gb of VOX adsl and 40Gb Telkom Adsl days to more through.
