congested exchange - westridge

Experiencing slow speeds on ADSL line. Logged a call and was contacted by Telkom call center agent. I was told that my line is extremely slow and it could be as a result of the distance from the exchange and the over congestion at the exchange.

I have had this line for a good couple of years, why give problems now?

They suggested that I go wireless as fibre will not be rolled out to my area. 

How can that be solution at the current exhorbatant price for LTE?

Surely Telkom can see the strain on the exchange and upgrade it?
