The second Master's tournament in the new Telkom Digital Gaming League (DGL) will take place this weekend, 22 to 24 July 2016, in Sandton, Johannesburg. For the first time in South Africa an eSports tournament will be held in a cinema, in conjunction with Ster-Kinekor.
The tournament, which will feature Dota 2, will see teams from each of the eight Masters Multi-Gaming Organisations (MGOs) competing for a share of the R100, 000 prize pool.
"We are now opening the doors to a whole new audience by using Ster-Kinekor's state-of-the-art cinemas. It's a natural fit for Telkom when we talk technology, streaming and eSports," says Enzo Scarcella, Telkom's Chief Marketing Officer.
This tournament is the second in this year's Masters League, which will culminate in the Masters main event at rAge in October, with a prize pool of R1 million. Thanks to the league, MGOs have the opportunity to compete for the largest prize pool in South African eSports history.
