I've been trying to activate my iMessage and FaceTime using my cellphone number not my email(iCloud account) however nothing happens when I accept the charges from my carrier (Telkom).
I have contacted Apple and they asked me to contact Telkom as we had done some troubleshooting that isolated the problem.
I’ve been trying to explain my problem to the call centre agents, however when I am connected the agent puts me on hold and I don’t hear of them again or they tell me it's not possible to activate iMessage using your number and only by using your email address.

Just some feedback on the matter, I was told both by Apple and Telkom to try activating my iMessage and FaceTime using my SIM on a different iPhone and using someone elses SIM card on my phone.
If it still does not work, then the problem could be with the SIM, but theres only one way to find out.
I will drop an update as soon as I find someone to run this test with me during this time.
