I have been trying for weeks to port to Telkom from MTN.
There is no Telkom store where I live, and the sms service is just not working.
Contacted support many times, they all just tell me to send the sms again.
This is really annoying, as I just want to start using Telkom's internet.
Not sure why it is such an issue, ported from Vodacom to MTN a few month back.
Only took 24 hours.
Anything I can do?

The sms service worked when I needed it but I remember struggling with which numbers to use old or new sim and from which sim to send. There was also a post that said the sim number needs to be 20 digits, leading zero?
I hope I'm wrong but I thought I saw recently that the only way is via a store which can be hundreds of km away

So for the record..
the sms is sent from the old sim which means you would need airtime. I think that was my problem too.
and ICCIC is the SIM number

And yes, only while you are still on Telkom prepaid, otherwise drive the 100km

Yesterday i port my from MTN to Telkom which everything went well I even received an sms from Telkom confirming that they received my request.
Now here is my problem its been over 24hours now and nothing has happened,when I call MTN this morning the telling me that they did approve the request its Telkom that has to activate the port when i call your service line wow i have to wait for about 30 minutes before I get someone to talk to which is R2.84 PER second charge i didn't get help after all which is very frustrating
Here is the sms send to me:
Dear Customer, Thank you for the request to port to Telkom. Your reference number is 239345593. Your port should be complete in 24hrs during weekdays and 72hrs over the weekend. If you did not request the port or you want to cancel the port, please call 180 and choose option for SMS Port in Support Desk. Regards, Telkom
